WordPress

Connect your WordPress site with the Kaneo plugin, and show the widget or capture your site's forms, no code needed.

With the Kaneo plugin you connect your WordPress site to Kaneo in one click. Then, in WordPress, you choose which widget to show and which form your site's own forms should send to. The plugin works with forms from, for example, Contact Form 7, WPForms and Gravity Forms.

The plugin requires WordPress 6.0 and PHP 7.4 or newer. The latest version is 2.1.2.

The plugin's own screens are in Danish. Below, the exact Danish labels are shown with an English translation.

Before you start

The plugin uses your forms and widgets in Kaneo. If you don't have any yet, create a contact form first under Opsætning → Kilder → Ny kilde ("Setup → Sources → New source").

Install and connect

In Kaneo: go to Opsætning → Kilder ("Setup → Sources"), click Ny kilde ("New source"), and choose WordPress. Click Hent pluginnet ("Download the plugin"). You get a zip file.

In WordPress: go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose the zip file, install it, and click Activate.

Go to Settings → Kaneo and click Forbind til Kaneo ("Connect to Kaneo").

You're taken to Kaneo at app.kaneo.ai. Log in if you aren't already. Check that it's the right site and company, and click Tillad ("Allow").

You're taken back to WordPress, where it says "WordPress er forbundet til Kaneo" ("WordPress is connected to Kaneo").

The Allow page in Kaneo when connecting WordPress

The plugin can only see the name, ID and status of your widgets and forms. It can't read your inquiries, emails or customers, and it can't change or delete anything.

If you're a member of several companies in Kaneo, switch to the right company before you click Tillad ("Allow").

Choose a widget and a form

Once the site is connected, there are two options under Settings → Kaneo in WordPress:

  • Widget på alle sider ("Widget on all pages"), choose a widget. It then shows on every page.
  • Opfang formularer ("Capture forms"), choose a form in Kaneo. Your site's own forms then send to Kaneo as inquiries from that form.

Click Gem indstillinger ("Save settings"). If you've created a new widget or form in Kaneo, click Hent listen igen ("Reload the list").

In Kaneo, the site now appears under Sources as WordPress with the status Forbundet ("Connected").

Only on certain pages

If you only want the widget or form capture on certain pages, leave the options above empty and use one of these instead:

  • Blocks, add the Kaneo-widget or Kaneo-formular ("Kaneo form") block to the page.
  • Shortcodes, [replied] shows the widget, and [replied_form] captures forms. You can pick a specific widget with [replied widget="…"] and a specific form with [replied_form source="…"].

The shortcodes are still called "replied", from the plugin's old name. They work just as they should.

The Kaneo-formular block doesn't show a form. It captures the forms already on the page. To show a form from the form builder, paste its code into a Custom HTML block. See Form on your website.

Without connecting

Under Manuel opsætning ("Manual setup") in the plugin, you can paste in the Widget-ID ("Widget ID") and Formularens nøgle ("Form key") yourself instead. You find both under Sources in Kaneo: choose Kopiér widget-id ("Copy widget ID") or Kopiér API-nøgle ("Copy API key") in the three-dot menu.

Disconnect

You can disconnect from either side:

  • In WordPress: go to Settings → Kaneo and click Afbryd forbindelse ("Disconnect"). The widget and form choices are reset, so the site stops showing the widget and capturing forms, and the site disappears from Sources in Kaneo.
  • In Kaneo: go to Opsætning → Kilder ("Setup → Sources"), click the three dots next to the WordPress site, and choose Afbryd forbindelsen ("Disconnect"). From that moment Kaneo rejects the widget and forms from that site. The plugin notices within half a day (or when you open Settings → Kaneo) and removes them from the site.

To use the site again, connect it again from the plugin.

Uninstall

Deactivate and delete the plugin under Plugins in WordPress. When the plugin is deleted, its settings are removed from the WordPress database.

If something goes wrong

  • "Forbindelsen udløb, før den blev godkendt" ("The connection expired before it was approved"), you took too long to click Allow. Click Forbind til Kaneo ("Connect to Kaneo") again.
  • "Forbindelsen blev afvist i Kaneo" ("The connection was rejected in Kaneo"), someone clicked Annullér ("Cancel"). Try again.
  • "Listen kunne ikke hentes fra Kaneo" ("The list couldn't be fetched from Kaneo"), try Hent listen igen ("Reload the list"), or connect again.
